WHAT MOVES YOU?

Nehemiah 2:17-18 “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies in waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach”. So they said “Yes, let us rise up and build”. And they set their hands to this good work.

Nehemiah had it made! In spite of slavery and great personal trauma, Nehemiah had risen from lowly ranks to one of influence and wealth.

He was blessed, but not content. For something had touched his heart and stirred him to a point of righteous restlessness. His beloved Jerusalem lay in utter devastation. So in spite of his blessing, divine discontent kept him awake in the midnight hours. Something just had to be done…..

In each of our lives, we will be brought by God to a critical decision point: will we apply all of His rich blessings toward our own comfort, or will we use them toward a cause that is greater than ourselves? This was the pivot point in the lives of Biblical patriarchs like Noah, Deborah, Gideon and Ester.

As with them, God has created and designed you specifically to serve Him in this time…..Do you know what you’ve been blessed and purposed for? You’ll know what it is by what moves you, irritates you, exasperates you and keeps you up at night!

Nehemiah’s heart was gripped in grief at the news of the desolation of Jerusalem – and he determined to do something about it. It’s time to get about your purpose!

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future.”
