WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING?

Matthew 16:18 ….on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

What is “church” to you?

Some people think of church as a thing we go to, an event, a sacred service, or an ornate building. But that’s not what the word “church” means.

• Church – ecclesia – “called out and gathered together”

The church is: people called out of their sinful lives into a network of relationships fused together because of Jesus’ love and power.

Being a part of a church is not as popular today as in the past. Some think the church is dated, irrelevant and unnecessary to spiritual life. But the pattern God shows us of how Christianity works best is when those who believe become a part of the Church.

Acts 2:47 And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

The Apostle Peter exhorts us this way….

1 Peter 2:4-5 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house…NIV

You can’t make a house with one stone. Stones must come together and be joined, with each in its place, so that the building can rise up. Have you added your strength to the House of God in your area? Or are you just a “rolling stone” doing your own thing? God is all about “building His church”. So, join yourself to your local church and build it with God!
